Try Wordpress 2.7 beta 3 - Great Admin Interface
I just upgraded this Wordpress Installation to the latest Wordpress 2.7 beta 3. I was bit hesitant to install on this site as its a development site. So I backed up the database and the files in case I get into trouble, but the upgrade went smooth and did not have any trouble. I have still not gone through all the features, but I really like the admin interface. There are no much changes in the front end, but the backend is totally different. The navigation part has really changed and is very much optimized.
Some Features which I really liked are : -
- Replying to comment - You can directly reply to a comment from the Admin Dashboard which is something very useful. You can even edit any comment without reloading the page (AJAX used)
- The Navigation is excellent - It will take sometime to get used to the new navigation system, but you will really love it.
- Inserting Tags - You can get help by clicking on the link “Choose from the most popular Tags” and you get all the tags listed
- You can install new plugins from your admin panel. No need to use a FTP Client, just upload the zipped file or you can directly install from the Wordpress extend directory.
- Quickpress - You can do a post directly from the Wordpress Dashboard without going to the Writing Page, this can be useful to save drafts and ideas
There are lots of new features and its a real change that has come up in the 2.7 series. I suggest you try it. I always use Windows Live writer to post my blog post, but this post is done using the Wordpress Editor, a different experience.
If you have upgraded your Wordpress to the latest beta version, please post your comments and experience
