I presume that you have created a free blog or a blog with your domain registered and now you have a bit of traffic and want to start earning some money with the traffic you have. I just finished setting up my ads for this blog using Google Ad Manager. Its very simple, and I would like to share this with my readers.
First you need to activate your Google Ad Manager Account, every Google Adsense account has Google Ad Manager enabled by default now, so just login to your Ad Manager Account.
Suppose your are planning to to display 4 125 x 125 px image ads, you need to create 4 Ad-slots. For this you need to go to the inventory tab of your Ad Manager and click on “Create New Ad Slot”. Give a name like I have given the name “Asokans_125×125_1” for my first Ad Slot. You can give any name which is meaningful. Please note that there should not be any space in the Ad Slot name. Next select the size as 125 x 125 , next you should uncheck the Adsense Ads. You should also enter a description for the Ad Slot.
Follow the same procedure and create another 3 Ad Slots in the similar way, namely, Asokans_125×125_1Asokans_125×125_2, Asokans_125×125_3, Asokans_125×125_4 with the same settings, except the description.
I had been stressing on consistent blogging on few of my previous posts which is very important to maintain a blog with consistent traffic. If you have noted, I did not do any posts in the Month of May, just 1 post, that’s the problem what I and many of the bloggers face. My traffic went to down and no new subscribers and my revenue eventually went down.
What happens is if you are involved in other work and blogging is not your full time job, this can happen very often and irregular blogging will never given your a regular income. Recently Darren Rowse had posted a Poll on How many posts do you do on your main blog? The comments were interesting and you should read it.
Now coming back to the topic of this post, how to plan your posts in a way that you blog posts are consistent. There are many times that I get time and topics and I can do 4-5 posts a day and as like in the Month of May, I could do only one post. If you are using blogging tool like wordpress , Joomla, Drupal, then you can write your post and publish it on a future date. This is something what many bloggers do. But again there are some restrictions on this. If you are writing a post on a hot topic, you should not plan to post it on a future date.
If you are not getting time to write you posts, you should at least find time to go through your draft posts and publish those or complete those and publish it.
Create as many draft posts as you can whenever you get some idea. You will find these draft posts useful when you run out of topics.
Don’t over post, your subscribers many get annoyed. Keep posting periodically, your visitors will make sure that you are alive.
This is a question that you should ask yourself when you have a blog and you want to take it seriously. If you are a full time blogger, then the answer will be very different, but if you are blogging for fun, hobby and to make some money out of your blog and keep your readers stick to your blog and subscribe to your blog posts.
It depends on each and every blogger to decide the amount of time that can be dedicated for blogging or maintaining a blog. You need to make sure that you do the following every day or at least once in two days. Again I would mention that what ever you do, it should be consistent.
You need to do the number of posts that you have decided to do every day or every alternate day - You should decide the number of posts that you do on a daily basis or on every alternate days and do it consistently. Don’t do 10 posts today and no posts for next ten days. I know you may have practical problems in doing post consistently, but you can overcome this buy modifying the publishing time of the posts. What I do is I always have some scheduled posts in line. Suppose I have more time and I have got some new ideas of posts, I just write all the posts and publish it by modifying the publishing date and time to a future one and these posts are published automatically when the date and time is reached.
You should moderate the comments held for moderation - You need to moderate the comments that are held for moderation and I would even suggest to go through the spam comments as I have find many good comments marked as spam. You should do this at least once in a day so that the visitors are encouraged and they really feel that you are spending time for your blog and going through what they are asking you or you are valuing their contribution.
You should reply to the comments - You should reply to all the comments promptly and this is one the most important factor to grow your blog comments
You should update your posts - There are many situation that you may have to update your published posts. This is also very important
You should analyse the performance of your blog - You do not need to do this every day, but I feel you should go through the reports of your blog at-least once in a week
Approve ads, payment etc - This is something which you should not delay. If you are running any advertising program for your blog, and you need to approve ads manually then its very important that you do the approval at the earliest and make the ads live as soon as possible
Now doing all the above mentioned process should be planned well and you should do prioritising the tasks. You should plan your day well and do things as per the priority. For example, if you are very busy on a particular day, you can give the first priority to Approving the ads and can delay posting a new page for the next available time.
To conclude it depends on you to decide, how much time do you need to spend on your blog, but what every you decide, you should be consistent

As I have described in my previous posts that Google Adsense is the best program for new blogs and the set up is very simple. You do not need to deal with the advertisers directly buy Google adsense serves ads to your blog your website. Google has two programs which connects advertisers to publishers. Google Adwords is a program for advertisers and Google Adsense is a program for publishers or webmasters. Advertisers buy ads and pay for it and Google servers these ads to publishers through Google Adsense.
Most of the publishers find that the revenue generated from Google adsense is not even enough to pay their hosting charges, but there are many website owners / pubishsers who earn good from this program
Traffic is the most important factor that effects your Google Adsense revenue. If you do not have much traffic, the do no expect much revenue. I would like to remind you that you should always work according to the terms and conditions of Google adsense and never try to get more earnings by clicking on your own ads or ask anybody to click on the ads or you will get your Google adsense account banned.
