Creating good content for your blog is the biggest task to maintain your blog. Writing content in a systematic way is very important. I have my way of writing the pages for my blog which is described below. I am taking care of the factors which should catch the readers as well as the search engines. Search engines are very important for generating traffic and should be indexed for the right keywords and key phrases.
Selecting a topic
Brainstorm a topic which you think will be of interest for others and people search for such pages on search engines. Your page should be of use to others and they should recommend this to their friends and bookmark it for future reference.
Research on the topic
Do some research on the topic that you are going to write. You can refer or contradict to the posts that you found on this topic. This should be interesting to the readers of your blog.
Heading for the blog post
Its very important to have the right heading for your blog post. The heading should be catchy and should be indexed by the search engines for the right key phrases. The title should give a good idea about the page and the page should be explanatory with reference to the title of the blog post. The post should be complete and to the point.
Organising your post
Your post should be organised well with headings, sub-headings, numbering, bullets wherever necessary. Write your post in points, say for example I have started this post with a brief introduction about what this page is about then I have divided this page into some sub-headings and explaining them accordingly. Finally a conclusion or a summary what you wrote about.. Do not just create a post in a single paragraph. So organising a post makes good readability.
Images in your blog post
Images are very important for your post. One image can explain something which you will need to write in a big paragraph. While selecting your image, make sure that your image is fitting to the page and is explanatory. Use proper "alt" tags with the image giving the description what the image is about. This is important for search engines.
Links to more information
You may not be able to explain each and every word of your post, so the best idea will be link to the pages which you might have created which gives more explanation or to the pages which you have referred to.
Provide reference to your posts
Providing references or citation for your post is good as that will be give confidence to the readers. They can make sure that the information that you have posted is genuine and they can follow your tips or make use of the post.
Unique content
Your post should be unique, which means that the post has something that other posts do not have. Do not create posts by just copying some content from other websites. This is bad for your blog as well as search engine point of view. Your pages may be moved to supplementary index of search engines like Google.
Request for response
You need to ask some questions to the readers or ask them to post some comments and queries which you should be able to answer
Draft Read
Read your post at least once before you publish it. Check for spellings and grammar mistakes. Now most of the browsers have spell check enabled, so that should not be a problem.
Categorise correctly
You should assign the right category for your post. You can select multiple categories if you feel its correct or go for the right one. If you do not find the right category in your existing category list, add a new right category and assign the new post to it.
Tagging your post
Wordpress latest stable edition has the provision for tagging your posts which is a good feature to organize your posts. Its a good practice to tag your post
Preview, Publish and ping your post
Preview your post, using the preview feature and if you feel that you have done your best with the post, just publish it or just save it as a draft and work on it well before your publish it. Wordpress has the option to ping different services and search engines. You can ping them using this option or ping manually. Pinging is a procedure to inform different services and search engines that you have posted a new page in your blog
