Now when you go to a new blog, one of the factors you check about that blog is the number of RSS Feed subscribers. You will find some blogs with 1000’s of subscribers, which really adds to the credibility of the blog. Now lets look into the cons of the RSS Feeds subscribers.

Cons of RSS Feeds Subscribers

If you subscribe to a blog or a website, you get the latest posts without visiting the website. You are not going to click on any ads of the website, you are not going to contribute to the page views or the traffic of that particular website. Very rarely, you may think of visiting the website as now a days most of the blogs offer the full article in the Feed, so why do you need to go to the original web page.

One other factor that you should keep in mind that all your subscribers will not be reading all your posts, just think about yourself, do you read all the posts that you receive by email or if you are using a reader to read the Feeds? The answer will be clearly NO, I don’t. I just scroll through the posts and read it only if I feel there is something interesting for me to read.

What can be done to monetize your blog using the Feed Subscribers?

So when you write a post, make sure that its properly linked to different posts, this could increase the chances of bringing Feed readers to your blog and there are chances of increasing your Advertisement revenue. This is valid only if you are selling advertisements on page views (CPM) basis or pay per click basis (PPC). Another way is add the advertisements to your posts. I have seen in JohnChows RSS feeds, there will be two advertisements, one on the top and at the bottom “This post was sponsored by”. This is a good tactic to present the ads to the feed readers. For this, you need to modify the feed generating file of the blog.

Another way is to using plugins like MaxBlogPress which will create links to your affiliate programs and will increase the sales of your affiliate programs. To conclude, to get the best out of your RSS Feed Readers, you should write a post which is well linked to your other posts, add up related posts, add some ads to that post. You can add the Google Adsense RSS Feeds feature for this purpose.
