How much time can you spend for your blog

This is a question that you should ask yourself when you have a blog and you want to take it seriously. If you are a full time blogger, then the answer will be very different, but if you are blogging for fun, hobby and to make some money out of your blog and keep your readers stick to your blog and subscribe to your blog posts.

It depends on each and every blogger to decide the amount of time that can be dedicated for blogging or maintaining a blog. You need to make sure that you do the following every day or at least once in two days. Again I would mention that what ever you do, it should be consistent.

You need to do the number of posts that you have decided to do every day or every alternate day - You should decide the number of posts that you do on a daily basis or on every alternate days and do it consistently. Don’t do 10 posts today and no posts for next ten days. I know you may have practical problems in doing post consistently, but you can overcome this buy modifying the publishing time of the posts. What I do is I always have some scheduled posts in line. Suppose I have more time and I have got some new ideas of posts, I just write all the posts and publish it by modifying the publishing date and time to a future one and these posts are published automatically when the date and time is reached.

time for you blog You should moderate the comments held for moderation - You need to moderate the comments that are held for moderation and I would even suggest to go through the spam comments as I have find many good comments marked as spam. You should do this at least once in a day so that the visitors are encouraged and they really feel that you are spending time for your blog and going through what they are asking you or you are valuing their contribution.

You should reply to the comments - You should reply to all the comments promptly and this is one the most important factor to grow your blog comments

You should update your posts - There are many situation that you may have to update your published posts. This is also very important

You should analyse the performance of your blog - You do not need to do this every day, but I feel you should go through the reports of your blog at-least once in a week

Approve ads, payment etc - This is something which you should not delay. If you are running any advertising program for your blog, and you need to approve ads manually then its very important that you do the approval at the earliest and make the ads live as soon as possible

Now doing all the above mentioned process should be planned well and you should do prioritising the tasks. You should plan your day well and do things as per the priority. For example, if you are very busy on a particular day, you can give the first priority to Approving the ads and can delay posting a new page for the next available time.

To conclude it depends on you to decide, how much time do you need to spend on your blog, but what every you decide, you should be consistent

Concept of Earning through blogging

I am just trying to explain the concept of Earning through blogging which is in the mind of many bloggers around the world. There are some successful bloggers around the world who really work hard and have spend lot of time developing their blog. This success has brought in many novice bloggers who are trying to earn some money through blogging. But this is not as simple as what you think. Lots of hard work and dedication behind the success of these blogger.

How does this concept work?

First you create a blog, write content for your blog, market your blog, gain traffic, monetize your blog using different monetizing methods like advertisements, reviews, selling products, affiliate marketing and so on. This is the concept of earning or making money from blogs.

How many bloggers are successful? For example, take my own case. My first domain was registered in the year 2001, more than 7 years back. I have worked on my website for some months in the beginning, then I did not do anything for next 2 years, then I did something for another few months and again did not do anything for next few years. Then finally towards the end of 2006, I thought of again working on this blog and till last few month I just did less than 10 posts a month. I was never consistent, because I never took blogging seriously and I did not have sufficient time. For the past few months, I am working on it very seriously, keep my blog updated with fresh posts and do post consistently on selected topics. I now really see the difference in the traffic and income.

To be successful blogger, you need to be

Write good content - Quality content is the key requirement for successful blogging. If you are able to post unique and high quality content, you get real readers who will make your blog successful.

Be consistent in posting, do regular posts regularly. If you are able do one post a day, then you should do this regularly. Write on related topics and topics that you can write about.

So to conclude, the concept of earning through blogging is very simple, but the implementing it is restricted to bloggers who can write quality content, consistent posting and market their blog

Traffic Source Distribution on my blog

Recently I was just checking the Quality of social networking site traffic. I had a few of my pages in this blog submitted to StumbleUpon and got some traffic from it. I was just going through the Google Analytics report and found something interesting that I thought of sharing with you

image

I use Google Adwords for this blog and get a lot of clicks from the campaigns. Please note that I do not spend more than US$ 10 for the Ads on Adwords, and I feel its worth. I get most of my traffic from Adwords as this blog is new and there is no pagerank right now. I need to wait until I get good search engine ranking for this blog and it takes time. I am not worried about that, all I need is to have good quality content. I am not buying any links or I am not planning to for the sake of increasing link popularity of to increase the number of backlinks

My second traffic source is direct traffic, which are from visitors, who type in the URL of this blog and come to my blog. So its a good sign. This traffic source of high value and its a good sign

The third one is from StumbleUpon, but I am not happy with the quality of this traffic.

Reasons - The Bounce rate is the highest of all 92.73%, the time spend on this site is an average of just 1.08 minutes which is again the lowest. Time spent by a visitor who came from Google Adwords is 02.24 minutes, bounce rate is 63.28%, time spent by a visitor who came directly to my is 4.54 minutes and the bounce rate is less than 50%.

I feel the best traffic is the traffic which come directly and in my case, the best are from my feed subscribers which has a bounce rate of just 35% and the average time spent is about 19.16 minutes which is very good.

To conclude I would like to say is don’t worry much about the traffic, just concentrate on writing good content, respond to the comments, and provide the best and latest information to your readers. Don’t just rely of traffic from social networking sites. I see many bloggers depending on these traffic. You can use the stats for getting good advertisers for your blog, that is something which is useful from these kind of traffic.

Advertising with Asokans.Com

I have been using Google Adsense for my blog revenue and now I have options for private ads. Thanks to Oiopublishers plugin which I purchased for US$37 and I recovered that in just a week time. Before talking about the Advertising program, I would like to recommend this product to you and I can offer you a discount of US$ 20.00 for this product, if you want to purchase it. Just Pay US$20.00 for a limited period. Just click on this link and enter QWERTY-17 into the coupon field and you get the product for US$ 20.00

I have different advertising option at very low rate. The rates will go up soon, I have good number of subscribers now and its growing day by day. I do at least 1 post a day and I am getting visitors from different referral sites, direct visits as well as from search engines. I do not post any advertisement without nofollow tag as its against Google guidelines. If the purpose of your advertisement is traffic, then I can assure you that, but if its for link building and pagerank, then I cannot help it.

Please go through my advertising packages, for more information or if you want a customĀ  package, just contact me

Google Says NO to Google Adsense Ad Blending

I had done a post related to Google Adsense Ad Blending last week. After that I was doing some research on the controversy of Ad Blending to find out more information. It is strange that Google had advised the Adsense users to Blend the ads according to the theme of the webpage and now its telling, its against the guidelines.

I am bit annoyed with this as when they have provided us with the option to adjust the color and we can make is more like a part of the blog. I do understand that Google Adsense is alive only if Google Adwords is live and for the interest of the Advertisers Google needs to take some steps to keep the advertisers happy. I am also a Google Adwords user and many times I avoid ads to be displayed to the content network.

If we blend the ads and make it in a way that the visitor is not able to understand which are advertisements and which are internal links, then its like making the visitors click on the ads by mistake and may not even return back to our site. To do this I have added an heading as sponsors to the the Google Ads.

To conclude, we can blend our ads, but in a way that the visitor is aware that he is clicking on the ads and not links on the web page and this is what Google wants us to do. They don’t want us to place the ads in a way that it looks like its links inside the blog or website.

Tricky Sales Letter

Recently Jeol Comm released Adense 4.0, after the great success of with his previous edition which was sold for US$97 and now he is selling the latest edition for US$9.95. There was some issues related to the sales letter as he was auto subscribing the buyers for US$29.95 which many were not aware, but this was clearly mentioned on the sales page. None of the buyers were bothered to read the whole long sales letter.

Its not a good practice to do such kind of sales letter for reputation. After a lots of negative response to this product the author came up with apology. Many bloggers like Darren Rowse , John Chow were promoting this product and had a very bad response to his promotional post. Darren is very much accepted by his community and he has about 45K Feed readers. There was an scam alert post by Mark of 45n5 which actually triggered the information to the buyers.

I believe if you are going for a long term sales of your product, you should mention terms very clearly and the buyer should be aware of the payments that needs to be made. They should never feel that they are trapped or fooled.

Studying your traffic source

Its very important to keep track of your blogs statistics, traffic source , analyse your blog growth and for this I would suggest your use Google Analytics, which is the best and free system available. I use this for all my websites and get all the information that I need to know and this helps me in improving my blog traffic. With Google analytics your can find the traffic source, like if its from a particular site or search engines or from your Google adwords campaign or any other sources. If its search engine, you can find the keywords that your page ranked for and the number of visits or pageviews that you got from that particular keyword. You can even find information like the Location of the visitor, bounce rate, the time that the visitor spent on your website, the pages that the visitor visited during that visit, the location of the visitor, returning visitor, loyalty of the visitor, operating system that the visitor is using, the browser used by the visitor and tons of other information. These things are very important information that you need to have about your blog so that you can tune your blog for improving your traffic.

imageI was just going through the reports at Google Analytics and wondering about my blog traffic at this blog and found that 79% of my visitors are from referring sites. Which means that some site has my links posted and the visitor has clicked that like and came to this blog. I have very less visitors from search engines, reason is that this is a new blog and to get listed in search engine and getting top ranking for popular keywords will take some time. This blog does not have a Pagerank yet as its just started last month. I am not worried about search engine traffic as I am well aware how much time it takes to get ranked in search engine, but I still get traffic from search engines which is really a good sign for me.

imageNow I would just like to compare the traffic information of one of my other blog which has about 51% of the traffic from search engines. This blog is a bit old blog as well and has a fairly good pagerank. 41% of the traffic is from referring site. In fact the statistics of this blog was very different 1 month back. I never used social networking sites like stumbleupon or digg, but some visitor did submit some of my pages to these social networking sites and the statistics of my blog started changing. Earlier 85% of my traffic was from search engines and the remaining from other sources. This shows that Social Networking sites can really change the statistics of your blog. But there are some issues using social networking sites for traffic and many experts say that Social networking traffic and just waste of bandwidth. The conversion rate from these sites are very low. I will come up with a post after a detailed study on this topic
